I've done some small parts with soda, and a small handheld blaster. It does "OK" with what I was doing, and what I was using. I've done some spark plugs, that I needed to clean and re-use until the new one's came in ('48 Chevy) and it cleaned the carbon off real fast, and made a cleaner looking plug (almost like a new one) than the spark plug cleaners do with their media. I have used it to clean some of the parts that are galvanized and had some rust showing. These were brackets for things like the w/s washer jar, w/s wiper motor and so on. It is much finer, and because of that, I believe it leaves a natural new look to the parts. It also leaves some material behind, and needs to be cleaned off, if anything is to be applied to the surface, such as the primer and paint as noted in another post. Using the handheld blaster, and about 140 lbs of air, I could hold the part in my hand without a glove on, and not have my hand assaulted like with sand or other media (when you forget a glove etc). I do feel it takes a good bit longer to strip something, but the surface finish is nicer looking.

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
