all this just proves how stupid people are.The word squaw was removed from several Maine places. If you take time to study the early history of New England Indians you will find the chiefs were called Sachems and their wives were called Squae Sachems.Several Indians has been causing much trouble in Wrentham MA.The Indians were holed up in a house.Soldiers told them to send out women and children as the house would be set afire. One Indian who came out was a man who said Nees squae.I am woman.A high school has been named for King Phillip, a chief who burned the town of Wrentham twice. The latin word for black is Nigra. This word is now a bad word and will no doubt be removed from all latin plant names. The black walnut trees latin name is juglans nigra. The indians know little of their history if they think squae is a bad word.
