Ritchie bros. is the biggest auction company in the world. They usually have a 10% fee added to everything under $2500. Not sure at a farm sale though if they do. If it's a big sale and especially on small stuff, if you want to bid, bid right away cause they don't fool around for 10 minutes like some auctioneers do. If stuff is being bid on and then stops, if they don't get a bid in about 5 seconds it will be sold. If stuff goes down real cheap like $25 or $50 for the opening bid, sometimes they just sell it to the first bidder. At a farm sale you never know what will happen. I've seen good equipment go real cheap and small junk sell for a fortune. I guess sometimes more people have money for the small stuff. Dave
