I've never for a moment thought of custom cutting as being fun. For starters for me the grain dust causes intense itching that only stops about two weeks after harvest ends.
The extremely long hours are something that I would not have looked forward to in my younger days and especially not now.
Frustration with long elevator lines and pressure from farmer and boss alike to get the load dropped and back for another---no fun.
I hope you are fully aware of salary terms before signing on. Sickle time pay only or ??? Who does laundry, will you have time to do your own? Meals? Sleeping arrangements?
Best wishes for a fun filled summer. At least you will get to see a lot of diverse territory first hand and up close. Be sure to take a GPS device so you can log your locations for return visits in later years to come.
