Hello Goose: I have an old degree in EE I haven't used since May 1969 but the 6 years before that I worked in a Research engineering lab on aircraft electronics. With my old history stated, I would be one those to ask just how high powered were those electric lines? Farm wire fences, with wood (insulating) posts, can generate power when near the very high power cross country power lines so why not inside a car passing by? Also conider many airlines request lap top computers turned off during takeoff or landing. Imagine a small Dell laptop crashing a 200 Million 747? Well, why do ( or did) they ask to have them turned off. The very highest electric power lines carry a LOT of EMF around them. I would think a poster by the name John T would have a comment. My self? Maybe Toyota did not shield their unit from very high power lines? Simple things sometimes lead to a crash. I would not count out the very highest power lines. Look what an electric welder can do to a good AM radio station? The real answer may never be told because of legal considerations? Right? .ag
