I had a heifer get stuck in a hay ring last spring. It was my first day at a new job off the farm and my parents saw the her that morning and thought she was dead. They didn't call me and tell me until that afternoon so I called my hired men to go and pull her out and bury her. They thought she was dead too until the got the hay ring off and she got up. She's been fine ever since. She laid there without moving for at least 8 hours.
