Well you have to list what you will do with it do you need a front loader, live hydraulics and power steering? Keep in mind the more stuff on the tractor the more to fix. I think that is why the Ferguson and Fords and early JD's are so popular. I have had a JD A big and pretty powerful, I have 3 TEA Ferguson 20s and my own club for them with 450++ members also have a David Brown 990 that I have in pieces. The little grey tractors of Ford and Ferguson will surprise you and you can go up to a NAA or 601 Ford and get a pretty nice machine. MF 135 seems to be a real workhorse. Look around and I guess if you see something you like get it. I advise you to look at machine in daylight and go back a few times to see it again take a look at general condition ie rusty, hoses cracked, oil leaks, noisy, smoke at start up or under load, hyd working ok, how much baler wire on it, lights and gauges work, tire weather cracked or leaking chloride means rims are shot, steering tight, any leaks from radiator, etc. Look it over good pull the dipstick and look at the oil is it dirty these are all things to look for and a lot more. regards rod
