I have just finished rebuilding a 1937 Ford V8 Engine. Shown above is my 1933 truck that this engine may go into while I rebuild its engine.
Origionally this Flathead V8 was a stationary engine that ran a backup generator in a hospital in California. I got it from a guy in Minnesota who bought it out there and shipped it to his home. I don't know how long it sat, but parts had been taken off and it was partly disasembled. Sort of a long block, but missing pieces. It seemed to have very little time on it. Everything was to factory toleraces, so I honed the cylinders, put in new rings and rebuilt a fuel pump, carburator, and both water pumps. It seemed to have a shorter camshaft, as the original distributor would not engage. I was able to get an adapter that made up the difference and found enough parts to get it running again. These engines were used in Trucks, cars and as said, stationary power. They also were used by Funk to modify the Ford 8N. My plans are to show this engine on a stand in the back of my 1933 Ford Truck. I will call it the spare. Just click on one of the videos in this album to see it run.
