This I did to a MH with no ill effect. Park the tractor so the engine slopes down a
little toward the front for good drainage. To do a real serious job of cleaning out
engine blocks of rust and scale. Remove water
pump and plug up the hole temporarily. I used
a pattern out of paper to mark the holes for the pump. Using the pattern I cut a piece of heavy tin then backed it up with a tire inner tube as a temp gasket. Then I bolted it on in place of the pump.
It doesn't matter if it drips a little.
Remove hoses from radiator and plug the holes at the engine. Fill the jacket with muriatic acid and let it sit 15min. Flush out with distilled or rain water. Put the pump back on and connect radiator and refill. I don't know the effect of the acid on a
water pump and bronze bushings, so why take a chance better to remove it. If you just want a maintenace job on the cooling system, use any radiator flush liquid
then run the engine for 20 min. Drain system
and fill with distilled water. Run engine again. Flush again, then fill with anti-freeze and distilled water mix appropriate for your climate.
You might want to add 1/2 litre of water pump
lubricant as well, your option.
