I think the walk behind Motts were called B32's but not sure. My dad was a Mott dealer and wondered why they didn't keep the walk behind flail mowers. He was good friends with Mr. Mott(president of Mott) and was sad to hear that he died landing his plane. I forget which Mott it was my dad knew. I think he was the son of the founder of Mott, who originally worked as an engineer for IH. IH wasn't interested in his new hammer knife mower, so he went out on his own and the rest is history. When the flail mower was being developed, they tested it in pig shut to see how good the blades self cleaned. Mott flails were very well built. My dad was the biggest seller of the Interstator in the world when they came out in the 70's. He sold over half of the first 50 they made. He said they sold themselfs. They could mow up to 21ft. wide and were excellent for doing ditches and the sides of highways. They were also very compact when folded up. Dave

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
