I grew up with a 16 guage single shot- then was working for Herters Inc. (in a retail store in Olympia, WA in 1970), and was looking at a new 16 guage Remington 870 pump- boss said no one but me was interested in it, and I could have it for cost- paid about $68, as I recall. Still have it, and have a friend who reloads 16 guage shells for me.
