I've got a 50 hp, 4wd with r-4's. The rears are loaded. It doesn't have great traction in mud but it handles the 2x16" plow well in 4wd. If its wet enough for it to have traction problems working soil, its too wet to be on the land.
I also use a 10 ft s-tine cultivator. It can't handle my 12 ft disc harrow in soft soil but is fine when the disc isn't in too deep.
I have tried in 2wd and the 2 x 16 is too much in our soil. The 2 x 16 was originaly used behind a International 585 2wd with ag tires and using draft control it was just right.
For working in mud I really wish I had ag tires though.
