Funny...I was at Chanute at the hospital as a patient from June of '58 until April of '59, then was transferred to Wright-Pat. Even though a patient I lived with my wife in an apartment on Sangamon St. right across from the movie theatre in Dear old Rantoul and drove to the base to work in the Orthopedic Brace Shop at the hospital every day while I "convalessed". Spent more than a few hours at the "Chandelle"...the nice NCO club. Good memories of Chanute, went to the first Half Century of Progress show there a few years ago....poor old base is falling apart except for the Octave Chanute Museum by the flight line.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
