Some years back we had trouble with a Ford 3000 diesel we owned. Had the tractor taken to the nearby Ford dealer. After several days they called and asked my father and I to stop by so they could talk to us about the repairs needed on the tractor. When we spoke to the shop foreman he told us that he felt the best course of action was to replace the entire motor with a new motor. Needless to say we were shocked. My father-in-law recommended a mechanic who worked on heavy equipment. We took the tractor to him and asked him to check it out. Ended up the diesel pump and injectors had to be rebuilt and a hose replaced. We used the tractor for years after that and never had anymore trouble with it. Finally sold the tractor to a friend last spring when I bought a new tractor. My friend still uses it. I always suspected the dealership tried to pull a fast one. Funny thing, not too long after that Ford pulled the dealership from that particular business. Rumor was it was due to "questionable business practices."
