I use an electrical box with a hinged cover and lay it flat. It has a gasket in it but that is not really needed for rain with the overhang on the cover. It is around 10" to 12 " square and maybe 3" deep. I made a bracket and attached it right behind the seat which is very handy for the pins etc for hooking up the three point stuff. I found mine at a swap meet and they also can be found on old junked electrical equipment. Just gut out all of the electrical components. They usually are pretty sturdy.
I have a lot of the larger electrical panels from old machines in my garage for storage bins. I clean them out and add wooden or metal shelves.
