Gotta get in on this one as I notice that my handle is being bantered about a bit. :>)
Not talking to anyone in particular here, just throwing it out; if ya think a front mount is better, boy!, ya just haven't done much in the way of cultivating. Either that or ya just plain don't know how to set up a cultivator.
Been over thousands of acres with both types and I'm here to tell ya that there are reasons that the front mounts were phased out.
A rear mount is by far and away faster, do a better job and WAY, WAY more accurate because of those large stabilizing discs that hold the cultivator locked on the row. The tractor can "wander around" and the cultivator stays put. Far more forgiving and ya don't have to "watch the row" nearly as much as you do with a front mount.
Somebody show me a front mount that will perfectly cultivate a short crop at 8 mph and I'll concede. :>)
