I used to live on the west side of Detroit and work on the east side. ( afternoon shift ) One day I took 8 mile across town. I was going down 8 mile. and I saw a big plume of smoke roll across the road, a couple hundred yards in front of me. As I got up to that area, it was still pretty smokey, but not too bad. I looked to my right, and it looked like a nasty vacant lot, and old service station spot. There were a couple of cinder blocks in the road, I had to drive around, thought it was odd, but went on my way. Westbound traffic had stopped, didn't know why. Next day, found out some guy had been welding on a car, on the lift, and had hit the gas tank. Blew him and his buddy all the way across 8 mile, it's a boulevard. Must have been 300 ft - both dead. Nothing left of the building.
