I really like my 1 ton cab & chassis, It has a narrower rear than a dually with a pickup bed. I have a flat bed on it and it is very handy. This is my everyday driver, the only vehicle I own, 1989 Chibby w/189,000 mi.,only been into the engine once to replace a wore out camshaft, gas 454,4 spd. no overdrive, no A/C,no radio, just plain jane,Can squeeze 13-14 miles per gallon out of it without a big load. I guess I'll be throwing it away pretty soon according to some others on this board, been waiting for 12 yrs. for it to die so I could get something else. Parts and tires are expensive, just put two new tires $230,a set of rear brake shoes are $100, If I didn't need it for my work I would not have it, I would get maybe a 3/4 ton single back wheels. It is harder to drive, park, stop the bigger trucks, but if you are totting a big load go with the big trucks.I am a diehard chevy man, but if I wanted a diesel I'd get a Ford too.
