We have been improving our hay field for several years now. This spring we had several areas ready to seed with Cheyenne II bermuda (approx $200 for a 25 lb bag). We watched the weather forecast and last week the temps were up and we had a 60% chance or rain Friday and 50% chance for both Sat and Sun.
We took a day of vacation and went to the farm Wednesday. We put out 3000 lbs of fertilizer, spread 2 1/2 bags of seed, ran the cultipacker over the seeded areas and waited for the rain.
Good thing we didn't hold our breath. No rain on Friday or Sat. Sun we got one very, very light sprinkle that lasted about 2 minutes and that was all.
But James did get our JD 70 named "15" back up and running and got one of the A's named "52" back up and running.
Sat I spot sprayed the horse nettle that's trying to make a comeback in the hayfield with GrazonNext. Sunday I sprayed the entire hay field with GrazonNext and msm for weed control and to kill the bahaia and James got some mowing done. Also sold 5 round bales of our horse quality coastal.
So the weekend was not a total loss.
Slight chance of rain today. Maybe this will be our day. That tiny bermuda seed doesn't last long.
