Mike. Dont worry about losing the sale , this guy knew what you wanted and its his own fault he drove 3 hrs and wasnt prepared. If I was in your situation I would have called his bank to see if he was covered and then looked him over pretty close before accepting the check. You still run the risk of him stopping payment but now you have a real problem, in that fraud is not an issue but you trying to collect on some perceived problem he has. Overall only a couple percent are deadbeats but they are responsible for all the laws required to protect the public. In any event dont be discouraged, but protect your butt. Don
