Its not just the old ones. The new Denso & Bosch starters for instance. The main problem that occurs with them is the starter contacts wear out. If for instance you go to either the JD or Kubota parts sight they list individual parts for the starter, EXCEPT the contact points & plunger which is all thats wrong with them 98% of the time. I can find the contacts for the cars anywhere, but for the heavy duty models like tractors its like pulling teeth. So your option is to have your starter "rebuilt" or buy a "rebuilt" starter. What a scam it takes about 10 minutes to replace the parts. OK I guess I have had my rant for the day.
