I drive a VA van the 100 mile min. trip to Iowa City Iowa. I'm guessing six or seven years, only two have complained that hey got less than EXCELENT care.
The one lady gave me a good ripping about the temperature in the van. I always tell the co piolet to adjust the temperature as he prefers. The lady that complained was instructed to reach over her head and adjust it for her row of seats, because the front has its own controles.
The rear of the van is bouncy on our not so good HWY's, (no easy fix). Otherwise everyone is VERY PLEASED with the VA.
So I say national health care can work if it is managed properly. I know of several insurance companies that seem to show a profit, so the government should be able to break even.
I also run with the local EMS, and I'm here to tell you our government is paying alot out now. There are several, probably 50 -60 percent of the ones we load now are not insured. And I know, they are somehow called bad folks because their neighbor has health insurance and they don't.
Also my Grand daughter was born (normal), but then spent five days in the hospital. After the insurance paid their obligation, (80/20) thirty two thousand was left for co-pay. Mom and dad have good jobs, so not a super big deal. But very few folks have good paying jobs in our area, so it would be a life long debt.
