Hey neighbor, I read youre on house vacation, works for me. Im home now but headed to Texas for a week, Ill be back around the 18th.
The Local Yocals I use for genny repair are Jenkins Motor Shop (been there forever and do really good work) or Randy at Reliable Rebuilders in Bedford (if hes still there???)
That 8.82 sounds a tad HIGH to me, Im afraid it cold over boil the 6 volt battery if its ran at that voltage a longgggggggg time, keep an eye on it because it may well back down once shes charged, i.e. it may be okay as is??
I wouldnt mess with an 8 volt battery, thats a Rube Goldberg oddball/freak band aid approach in my opinion. A good 6 volt big honkin heavy duty battery and 00 gauge battery n starter n ground cables ought to work okay. Besides, 8.82 volts isnt really high if coupled up to an 8 volt battery (which is actually 8.4 volt) but Ive seen 6 volt gennys charge 8 volt batterys.
Where is the place in Odon I might get a good LP Gas price as I own my own tank?? I havent looked much yet, the only quote Ive heard is $1.74 but they will usually bargain some
