I will put my vote in for the Deere 7000 - Liquid fertilizer, finger pick up/radial bean meter.
After having one I will NEVER go back to a 494. Leroy must have perfectly level fields as the 494 takes care of planting depth 2feet behind the point of seed placement instead of at the point of seed placement. Between that and you have to have the ground worked to a powder for it to close the seed trench correctly. No deal for this guy. Plates, limited working speed, that horrendous row marker actuator, limited seed carrying capability, the transmission in the middle, nope. Sorry.
When you see so many of one item, like a 7000 some people say “Everyone has one so I’ll never own one” usually when “everyone” has one, there is a reason. Even the farms that are all red around here have Deere/Kinze planters.
