Good friend of mine has a 1135 and MANY 1155's.. He swears by em.. pulls 2 of the 1155's.. has one that runs in the field cranked up quite a ways. They pull their corn planter with the 1135.
I know they've had some problems with ALL of them here and there.. But what 35 year old tractor can you hop on and NEVER have any trouble with? Don't matter the color, or even the name on the hood, they all have issues eventually..
But to the point of your question, in good shape, Yes, I'd say it is worth the money. Locally, the price would be a touch high, but we don't have a lot for dealer network close as we do with Deere, IH or NH/Ford
As for undersized equipment.. sounds like you have a plan.. Upgrade one thing at a time.. easier on the wallet at least. Also, the 6-354 Perkins diesel is pretty good on fuel.. I want to say that my friend says they burn about 5 gallons a hour (I'll ask again next visit I have with him) pulling the 6 row no till corn planter, plus they have tanks on the tractor plus what's on the planter
