having ran 7000's for 20 years overall they have been a not perfect but good planter. more moving parts but some yearly as needed maintenance will not break anyone, use Kinze or jd bean meters and soybean planting accuracy will be good, some Whites around here, good planters but few dealers. I ran a 400 8rw IH blow j08 for 2 years and corn spacing was not acceptable. The 400 row unit offered poor depth controll and emergence was often uneven. I have a 6rn 400 converted to 8 row 20" for soybeans, IH bean metering is hard to beat but seed depth is inaccurate and it takes longer for beans to come up. The 800 and newer planters would be a much better planter as the row units are much improved. I haven't seen a bearing issue on a jd planter, around here jd/Kinze plants 75% or the row crops, that should say something.
