Thanks to the drug manufacturers being allowed to advertise on TV, the patients already know what ails them and what medicines they want. If a doctor doesn"t prescribe it to them, they will switch to a doctor who will and the original doctor will lose business. That, and the doctors have the medicine companies beating a path to their door.
