IHC model H tractors used several different rim sizes. Most were supplied with 9 x 38, 10 x 38 and some with 6 x 36 (these 36" rims fit the same cast wheels as the 38" rims ). The rims were galvanized, not painted silver. It would be great if you could find a pair of original galvanized 38" rims in good shape for 100 bucks. As I don't see that happening (i'll buy all anyone wants to sell at this price - write me at mrwill@voyager.net) you have some options. If your's are only rusted at one or two spots of the rim; break them down, cut out the bad area, fit metal patch, weld in metal patch, grind welds flat, prime & paint. Usable used 38" rims, around here, cost $50 - $75 each. You be lucky if these don't have to be cleaned and painted. There are two main shapes for the rim channel (dished and angled). Of course it's best to match the same style rim channel shape on the tractor, although farmers mixed and matched rear rim shapes without worry. John Deere B and several other brands use almost the same 38" rim as the IHC H and can be subsituted if you want. Some ads have new rims available for $230+. My tire man says he can get new rims for $130. I haven't seen these. Has anyone out there seen the $130 new rims ?? what are they like? Are they made in USA? Good luck jim.
