I would bet 95% of these old tractors were own by farmers some time or other. Bad maintenance spans all walks of like. If nothing ever went wrong with the diff and he kept it topped off he might not have known that there was a crude build up. I bought my tractor off a guy who said his father was a machinist-found a lot of wrong size washers and bolts all through it. I could have built a shed with all the nails used for cotter keys.
