Had a steering tire go down on the interstate causing the tire tear up before I could get stopped. Had all new tires put on about six months before. They all had new rubber stems installed with the new tires. The tire shop at Gas City Indiana said never let anyone put rubber stems on heavy load tires. The rubber stem blew off even with the rim holding on by less than 1/4 of the stem. It wasn't cut as the part that let the air out was ragged. Went back to the origanal tire shop and they said that was bull and there was nothing wrong using the rubber stems. I just had to cross off one tire shop for asking prices. Everyone has an opinion but mine is after that to only except metal stems on my truck tires. That goes for heavy trailer tires as well.
