The hydraulics on an M are single acting. the rear elbow on the left side is a delayed acting port for lifting the back of an implement after the front. The single elbow on the right side is the same as the front one on the left. To use the hydraulics on something like a haybine, you need to leave the rod end port on the cylinder open, use a plug with a small hole drilled in it or a commercially made breather plug. Then the cylinder will work, power up, gravity down. These systems didnt have a lot of pressure, 400 pounds for the early ones 7-800 for the late models, so it may not lift some things anyway. If you can stand slow acting, a bigger diameter cylinder will help. If you need double acting hydraulics you can hook up a double acting valve to one of the ports, and tee the return into the filler neck. To use this you must lock the control rod in the extended position, vise-grips or hose clamp.
