My new work tractor is a 1995 Tafe 35DI and I have just added a Rhino 160, 60" rotary mower for cutting around my little trees. I'm up to about 25 acres of them now, so it keeps me busy.
Problem is the new mower turns differently than the old Walco 60". It has a much longer "tail," and I've lost four walnuts and a couple of spruces due to navigational errors in the last day.
The other problem is that a crew came in and planted 8000 seedlings in a day this spring, but some of the eight-foot rows are too narrow for my 5' 6" tractor. Oops. Government grant work, eh? So now I need to slalom the length of 15 rows (650'), cutting around a tree every 10'.
The family Simplicity 38" mower will do the job, but I'd rather have something with taller wheels and the kind of endurance that can work around trees for the next fifteen years or so.
I don't need 4WD or a loader on this tractor, though a belly mower and 3 pt hitch would be good.
I'm pretty sure live PTO is a necessity, and that likely lets out the Gray market tractors, which would otherwise be quite desirable.
How about some suggestions, with approximate values? I live in Eastern Ontario.

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
