Calves are cute however momma is butt ugly. Don't make the mistake of getting between a calf and it's mother. I nearly hit a moose on the way home from hunting. It was crossing a narrow bridge as we came around the corner. Meeting another vehicle at the same time so we couldn't swerve. The truck mirror probably rubbed the side of the moose. The antlers cleared because they were taller than the truck. Hitting a moose or horse is often fatal because the animal smashes through the windshield and crushes the passengers inside the vehicle. Moose killed an on duty cop in Bala about 3-4 years ago. Calves and moose population are under pressure here. The gun hating do-gooder bunny hugger wildlife experts in the city. Have made firearm ownership very difficult and expensive. Then banned the rural/northern spring bear hunt. The bear population has exploded and among other problems such as bears moving into residential areas. All these extra and hungry bears are preying upon new born moose calves.
