I usually don't install customer carried in parts but I look at it on a case by case basis. I have one customer that uses all Fleetguard filters. The suppliers that I usually deal with don't have them in stock, have to order them. So he stocks up on his filters and brings them with him. Now I would be VERY CAREFUL putting cheap air and oil filters on a diesel. I ran into a batch of FRAM air filters several years ago that where too fine. They would plug very fast. Cost two different customers turbocharges on their tractors, where older without a restriction warning light. Nancy you got charged on the high side for a repair shop. Like it was suggested take it to Speed Co or some other quick change shop and it will be cheaper. Now you more than likely will only get the oil changed and a poor lube job.
