Same basic idea. Hi-Lo is just a wet clutch engaged 2 speed planetary powershift. When they get to this generation mentioned they use a bellville spring to engage the low side so you always have low even if you lose hydraulic pressure. The main difference between the Ford and Deere systems and some others is that they were always a direct and underdrive setup without an over running clutch... they also never acquired the same reputation for failures that IH had, for whatever reason.
