You jump to conclusions way too fast.I started driving because I made way more money than having a shop.
Im not lying to you,or even trying to make you mad,Im just telling you how it is.If I think you are a crook,Im real sure your customers do.
Nobody is a mechanic all their life usually.Especially a truck mechanic.Thats for younger guys than me.I was an ASE Certified Master Mechanic in the late 1980s.I even still work in a shop occasionally.I know I cant handle it like I did,but I do what I can.I can still outwork some people on a good day.
I agree,everybody should try and have their own business.It wouldnt take them long to see whats going on.The people who do the least,make the most money off of your labor.
I didnt miss turning wrenches at all after I started driving a truck,but I still had to turn wrenches for myself.I still can turn wrenches.
You seem to think I wasnt good at what I did.I was good at what I did.I was tired of working so hard all the time and not getting good pay.Even having my own shop,sometimes my help would make more money than I would after I paid all the bills.Im not going to gouge people to make decent pay.I learned how to drive a truck,did that until I got sick,and thats about it.

I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned.
