I work in the office equipment repair field and I've heard 'em all! We've got the "little sun" symbol, the "pyramid" or "triangle of dots" and the "little man" symbols on many of our smaller machines.
Sounds like a clerk we had. She sent a FAX to one of the other offices telling them their FAX was out of paper.
