I´ve always liked the concept, or look, of Ford tractors. They are the real guy´s wheels, it seems. Powerful sounding engine, great performance when new. However, while involved in the farming business, I used to drive a Massey Ferguson 165, and that cat-like purr of the Perkins engine and the torque and reliability easily outmatched the Ford 5000 my neighbour had. In fact, the MF is still around and used around heavier equipment than ever. The Ford 5000 probably lies in 5000 different pieces around the world as we write, and I don´t know that a Ford 3000 would be stronger competition. Sorry folks, but in the tractor department Ford never had anything competitive to offer against Massey Ferguson, nor did anybody else. Especially not John Deere. Just my opinion based on experience no better than that of anybody else.
