As many have said, happy Father's Day. My dad, who is 93, is living with us. He has lived a long, full life and is worn out. His memory is pretty well gone. Often times he does not know my name or his own. While the constant flow of questions is hard to take, "Was I ever married? Did I have any kids? Are my Mom and Dad still alive?" etc., he is sweet as ever. It is an honor to care for him.
What an unselfish father he was. I get choked up when I think of all he and Mom did for us. One silly little memory I've been thinking of lately was his habit of always taking a jacket along to the field. No matter the weather, you could count on the '51 DC CASE having a zip-up denim jacket on the seat, even on the hottest of summer days. We kids often thought him silly for doing so, but were the first to ask if we could wear it when a sudden storm blew up. The answer was always, "Yes." Us four boys are blessed beyond measure to have him for our dad.
Give Dad some extra love today if he's still with you.

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
