Or, it's gotta be fuel or spark, right? Take 15 minutes, when you're in the right state of mind, to check all there is to check and figure it out. Could be junk in the tank sloshing around and intermittantly clogging. That takes about 15 seconds. You can disconnect the line to the carb and make sure it's got a good solid stream for a minute or so. Could be some crud got loose in the carb and a needle is sticking, or your float is stuck. Have you ever cleaned your carb? We don't know the history of your tractor like you do, or what kind of maintenance, if any, you've given it.
