McC seems to've been (I'm assuming he's now past tense) a zealot put in an impossible situation... Whatever happens, it's a lose-lose situation, both militarily and politically... I don't know what he was told, implied or promised when he took over, but I would guess he was lo-balled to a fare-thee-well, re' his alleged comments about 'betrayal'... Reportedly he saw, and made no attempts to change, proofs of the article, so (if true)my guess would be that he saw no possible good outcome to our efforts there.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
