I have been on two flights. The first was early last year. I was asked by the local nursing home to be a guardian for a local WWII vet that was in their assisted living section. It was a very emotional trip. I am a Vietnam vet. Going to the Vietnam Memorial was the most emotionally trying thing I have ever done. I had up until then not talked very much about my time over there. That visit shook some memories loose. I went again with a 98 year old neighbor, this May. It was a blast. That old man walked our butts into the ground. LOL He still milks thirty cows in a tie stall barn every morning and night. His boys have a modern free-stall barn just across the road but their Dad still want to touch his cows every milking. LOL He wanted to see all of the sites in DC and we sure tried. He has only been out of the state of Iowa three times since coming back from WWII. Wanted to make the most out of the trip. He will still be going strong when they plant me. LOL
