You can get a rebuild for the vane pump.400 bucks.Try this first.Drain the hydraulic system,it must have the water thin 134 fluid in it.Go to TSC and buy 5 quarts of GL1 90 weight gear oil for 15 bucks.The service manual Ford published for this tractor says use 80 or 90 wt. gear oil.My 640 had a bad loss of lift power when the oil got hot.With the 90 wt oil the trouble is over.Converting to a piston pump can cost 1200 to 1600 bucks.Try the 90 wt oil first.Ford never reccommended the 134 oil,CNH did that.
