Everything planted April 16. Canned 35 qts froze 28 qts green beans. Snow peas did OK, broccoli, cauliflower and red cabbage wormy but finally matured alright. Chard and spinach grew poorly then bolted to seed. First tomato last Saturday, mmmmmm mmmmm, mortgage lifter variety, brandywines are coming on strong, the hillbillys are a little slower but loaded with fruit and about 6 1/2 ft tall. Five dozen ears of peaches and cream in the freezer today, just starting to get enough cukes to make pickles, bread and butter and dill. Getting enough okra and straight neck squash to eat almost every day and give to folks at church. Yukon golds look like they're dying back, whites aren't far behind, and the reds are still flowering. Next year should be the year the asparagus and thornless blackberries make. Had about 2 gallons of strawberries, wife and daughter ate them about as fast as they could pick them. Did I say how good that first tomato was? Oh man it was goooood! Mark
