I have one each on my AC "B",& "C". I had to get tech. assistance from them. The issue was way too much signal. The solid (red) end of the lead that gets wrapped around a plug wire had to be shortened, then wrapped just once around a plug wire, as far from the ignition as possible.(Both tractors have bat. ign.) The "C" is OEM style off a D series. The "B" is the popular "bolt-on-in-place-of-mag." style. The one on the "C" works perfectly. The one on the "B" will occasionally go a little crazy and read higher RPM's. Maybe I should try to be more accurate when saying "way too much signal".I am not an electrical guru so I'm rather crude at this. I believe it was feedback, or errant signals, or whatever from the other plug wires, dist, coil, etc. that is the challenge. So I have the lead wrapped right at the end of the #4 plug wire just ahead of the spark plug.
