your right I have never worked for a union. My dad has and the only complaint he ever had was the % raises that they got.If he worked for $5 hr and the guy who was there for 2 years was gettin $8 hr and they get 10% raise, instead of $3 diff. from high pay to low you now have $3.30 an hour diff. That makes it imposible for a guy who does the same amount of work and in some cases more to ever catch up to have a better life style than low income.By always raising by% you keep the income span of people always getting further apart.
There are som companies here that have a scale so that you get more if you been there longer. But you only get to a sertain income and can't go higher no matter how long you've been there.I think after 10 years there all the same. Only dif is every 3-5 years you get one more week off.
The only other complaint I was told of was from a forman in a union. There was 1 guy he would realy like to fire because he wouldn't carry his own.He said that they had to have a better reason to get rid of him(whether that's true or not I don't know).Something to do with "he can only do so much it's his way" I don't know.
All in all I am sure we only hear of the worst case senarios, like everything else bad news gets more publicity. And the bad is probably a small percent of the total.
