Thinking back on why I was an orderly child was because of the way I saw my parents treat others and because I knew the expectations they held for me.
I knew I was loved and my parents made sure I knew that I was loved. It's not hard to respect those whom you love, although I didnt fully understand a parents love for a child until much later in life.
Remember that Rome was not built in a day. It will not be fast or easy.
Mom has to be a part as well. Many many statistics show that single parent children have all sorts of problems that often dont plague children of partents in a conventional household. Mom and dad have to love and respect each other especially in view of their children.
My 3 best friends all grew up in households where mom and dad were present. I appreciate selfless people who can demonstrate their love to others.
Talk to your children not at them and certianly dont talk about them harshly when they are in hearing distance. When you must speak harshly speak directly to them and address only the problem at hand.

I know we are not to encourage religiously on this forum so I'll stick to the facts... Statistics show that children of parents who attend church REGULARLY have fewer behaior problems than those who dont. Not that we know why but we can certianly assume that it has something to do with partental example inspired from a certain belief system in a devine being.
Change from your children requires change from those who control/facilitate them.
There are few things more rewarding than watching your children do the right thing simply because they have been taught it is the right thing. It will make your heart swell with healthy pride.
