I once barely missed a black horse standing in the road around midnight. Before I could get completely stopped sliding past him, a guy on a 305 Honda Dream plowed into him. I was sure I had seen a man killed, but he survived after many weeks in the hospital. That was in 1965, long before cell phones were even imagined. And I was driving a genuine American made '55 Chevy. The horse died of internal injuries.
Someone hits a deer every night here in Southern Illinois. You'd think we would run out of deer. And they are a lot easier to see than a black horse.
