I have used and hired tile put in with tile plows. The tractor pulled plows are not very good at holding depth in hard pan soils. Most tractors don"t have the weight that a crawler has to help hold down the plow when they ride up.
I also would not use a tile plow in clay soils. I have two clay bottoms that had tile plowed into them several years ago and they still don"t run very much water. The plow shoe smeared the side walls and they sealed the water out of the tile lines. Installers like plows because they are fast and cost per foot is less than trenching in tile.
In flat loam soils I think that plows would work alright. In my ground I will not have any more plowed in. I have just had a line dug next to where a line was plowed in. The plowed in line had a hump in it and was not draining. Also in those bottoms I finished the other half with dug in tile this spring and you can tell right to the spot where each is, the plowed in tile is not working. I am afraid that I wasted a bunch of money on it.

There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
