Still a bunch of the air cooled Deutz around here. Some from the 70's on up. I saw 1 with 11,000+ hours on it. Lots of them have 6-8 thousand hours. My tractor dealer ordered a muffler for one guy that has a late 70's model Deutz. The muffler was $900 and change. My dealer asked him since it was that price was he going to try and rig up something else. The guy said order it. He was replacing the original muffler and the tractor was still going strong. I think the mufflers have ceramic inside and last a long time.
I bought a agrofarm 100 (96hp) last fall. It has the German Deutz water cooled engine. Those are fuel sippers too although may not do as good as the air cooled.
